Exclusive or inclusive — which do you need?
This is the single most common source of disagreement about date arithmetic, and the right answer depends entirely on what you are counting.
Exclusive counting subtracts one date from the other. From Monday to Friday is four days. Use it for durations that measure the gap between two moments: how many nights you stay in a hotel, how much interest accrues, how long a shipment is in transit.
Inclusive counting adds one to that result, so Monday to Friday is five days. Use it when both endpoints are themselves part of the period: days of annual leave taken, days of a conference, days served, or a notice period that runs "from and including" a stated date.
Working days
The working-day figure counts Monday to Friday and excludes Saturdays and Sundays. It does not subtract public holidays, because those differ by country and often by region within a country. If you need a legally exact deadline, take the working-day figure here and then subtract the holidays that apply to you.
Why months are shown separately
Days are a fixed unit; months are not. February is 28 or 29 days, and the rest run 30 or 31. That means "three months" can be anywhere from 89 to 92 days depending on where in the year it falls. The calculator therefore reports a whole-day count and a calendar breakdown as two distinct answers rather than trying to reconcile them.
For the same reason, do not convert the month figure into days by multiplying. If a contract says 90 days, count 90 days. If it says three months, count calendar months. They are different obligations and courts have treated them as such.

How many days are between two dates?
Enter both dates above. The exclusive count gives the gap between them; the inclusive count adds one to include both endpoints. A Monday-to-Friday span is 4 days exclusive, 5 days inclusive.
Does this include weekends?
The total-day figure includes every day. A separate figure shows working days only, counting Monday to Friday and excluding Saturday and Sunday.
Are public holidays excluded?
No. Public holidays vary by country and region, so the calculator cannot apply them reliably. Subtract the holidays that apply to your location from the working-day total.
Can I use dates in the past or the future?
Yes, in either order and as far back or forward as you like. If the end date is earlier than the start date, the result is shown as a negative span rather than an error.
Why is the month count different from days divided by 30?
Because calendar months are between 28 and 31 days long. Dividing by 30 is an approximation that drifts by several days across a year. The calculator counts real calendar months instead.
